Last year, the event gave away more than $7,500 worth of baby-related items to expectant and recent moms. This year will be the hospital’s fifth annual community baby shower.
In addition to donated items, over one dozen vendors will be on site to over free gifts and services. The actual shower is set to take place on May 4. Belinda Phillips, a lactation consultant at Novant Health helping to organize the event, said she’d love to have all donated material by April 24.
“It is so much fun,” Phillips said about the event. “That is one that you always leave with a smile on your face.”
Phillips said Novant Health wants to reach as many expectant or recent moms as possible with the community shower. “Any mother is welcome,” she said. At the event, mothers will walk away with free materials and information on what services are available to them.
Donations can be dropped off anytime in the main lobby of Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center. Novant Health is accepting the following items:
- Sippy cups
- Clothing (newborn to 2T)
- Diaper rash cream
- Nonperishable snacks and juice
- Pack ‘n Plays or play yards
Cash donations will also be accepted through the Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center Foundation online. These funds will be used to help organize the event this year and in future years.
Held in the parking lot of Novant Health, the community shower will take place on Saturday, May 4, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. For more information, visit Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center’s website.
