On May 10, 2017 fans of Howard Stern were worried when the longtime radio host missed his first ever show. Now we know why.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Stern had a “health crisis that scared him s—less.”
The report says Stern was “carted into surgery” that day. In the months leading up to the procedure, doctors discovered Stern had a low white blood cell count and found a growth on his kidney, the report elaborates.
Doctors and Stern feared the growth may have been cancerous, but it turns out it was just a “tiny, harmless cyst”, the report says.
At the time, someone on Reddit pointed out that Stern had said the only reason he would miss a show is for a family death. This led to many speculating about the health of his father, especially since no explanation had been posted to the show’s website.
It turns out Stern was the one having health issues, but thankfully it was not life threatening.
